I have been volunteering for Habitat for Humanity for Puerto Rico and have seen the destruction that was caused by the hurricanes. I have seen them with my own eyes and there are thousands of Puerto Ricans that still do not have adequate roofs or electricity.

As you may be aware, Puerto Rico is a bankrupt island and the electric company (a debt ridden money losing business subsidized by the government), which was owned by the government is being privatized. Once this takes into effect, electricity charges will be even more expensive and I’m not sure how some of these Puerto Ricans with yearly wages of less than $25K per year will be able to continue living here.

From traveling all over the world, I am passionate about sustainability, architecture, and economics to make things better for the communities. A lot of things can be improved, but this is the start of my project. I would like to install solar panels to isolated townships, starting from homes, then to schools, libraries, and more.

I hope that this project will be the start of many more eco-friendly initiatives that can ultimately become a part of Puerto Rico and in the process contribute to a more sustainable island.

I will be working with a local company, whom will provide and install the solar panels.

-Initiate an environmental-friendly project to promote  awareness of environmental issues among locals.
-Model project that has long-term sustainable impacts in our community.
-Help reduce our carbon footprint.
